Brussels Celtic RFC

More than just a rugby club

Sat 24th April 2010, Vienna Austria

Congratulations to everyone who represented Brussels Celtic Touch in Vienna this weekend.

Vienna Tournament Info

25 of us travelled to Vienna to field two mixed teams : Untouchables and In2Touch.

Both teams played excellently with the Untouchables reaching the 3rd/4th place play offs.  A nail bitingly close game against our favourite opponents the Geezers saw a try for try retaliation that promised an almost inevitable drop off.  Alas, the Squeezers dropped over the line on the literal last play to take Amy's coveted 3rd place trophy!

Nobody really seems to know where In2Touch stand in the final ranking, Austrian complexity!  but they played extremely well and were delighted to beat the Vienna A-Team in their final match.

The Jersey Islanders won outright, having beaten the Untouchables 7-1 earlier in the day with Berlin (unplayed) taking 2nd.

Congratulations to them and also to our two MVP's : The Untouchables Matt Bannon who took the Hat of Awesomeness back home where it's starting to get comfortable and In2Touch's Ringer Extraordinaire Philipp Radlberger.

Many thanks to all who came, played, supported.

Special thanks to Niel Markwick for tour planning, captains Amy Williams and Olivier Zelicourt for on-field leadership, Jonathon Ralfe, Jonas Altin, Matt Bannon, Lee Copson, Olivier Zelicourt and Philip Radlberger for Refferees duties.

And of course, warm down tour guide Johannes Müller who made us all walk 7.9 km (according to google maps!) in my bloody flip flops!

A great weekend and highly enjoyed by one and all!

So whats next ?

Blueprint, Calais, Paris, Luxembourg, Euros then.... new on the Agenda : Budapest - more info shortly!!
